Description
A wine with seductive aromas of blackberry, blueberry, white pepper, cardamom and caramel notes. On the palate, we enjoy flavors of black cherry and plum with spicy hints of coriander, mocha, allspice and violet. The wine is complex, lively and perfectly balanced. The tannins are fine, giving an elegant texture and mouthfeel. Pair it with red meat dishes, such as a nice steak or beef stew.

The winery was founded by David S. Stare in 1972 in Sonoma County and specializes in plantings of the Zinfandel varietal. It was one of the first to consistently use the term “Old Vine” on its bottles. The grapes used for this bottling are sourced from the Estate’s historic vineyards containing vines over 100 years old. The fact that these vines are very old means that production is limited and the grapes produced are very intense and concentrated. The warm, dry climate in the Dry Creek Valley AVA is perfectly suited to growing Zinfandel grapes. After harvest, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks and small amounts of Petite Sirah are added to give additional color and depth to the wine.
