Boekenhoutskloof winery presents the Chocolate Block, with a deep red color. The aromas consist of berries, notes of tobacco and spices. In the mouth we have aromas of cherries, berries, floral notes, spices and chocolate. It has high acidity and a long pleasant finish. You could pair it with red meat or hunt.

Boekenhoutskloof winery was established in 1776. Located in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley in Swartland, South Africa. As a producer, Boekenhoutskloof is a Syrah specialist and we can see that in Chocolate Block. A red dry wine, a reflection of the climate of the area. Chocolate Block is an excellent blending of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. Grenache emphasizes the purity of the fruit and Cinsault offers floral and strawberry aromas. Together the two varieties empower the taste. Syrah is the core of this red blend. Grenache goes in barrels of 600 liters to maintain the freshness and fruity character while Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
