Description

Armakas has a deep ruby red color and impressive aromas of plum, cherry, blackberry, dried fig, hints of tobacco, chocolate spice and vanilla. On the palate we are fascinated by its rich ripe fruit and it is exuberant in all its aspects: body, alcohol, tannins, acidity and finish. It has aging potential at around 15 years and pairs well with intense meats and smoked cheeses.

The Aivali winery was founded in 1997 by Christos Aivalis in Nemea. In the privately owned vineyards of a total area of 35 acres, low yielding grapes are cultivated, aiming to produce high quality wines. The estate is inspired by the philosophy of non-intensified agriculture, with almost zero fertilization, so that the root system searches deep in the soil for food and moisture. The winemaking is carried out without any industrial nuances, the wines are not stabilized or filtered, thus keeping their authenticity and unique character, acquired from the terroir where they grow. Armakas comes from a virgin, dry and barren vineyard of Syrah, Merlot, Malbec and Agiorgitiko grapes. This is followed by overripe harvest, long maceration and ageing in French oak barrels for 40 months. A great wine that deservedly competes with very great wines from abroad.
