Description

A white sweet wine with an amber color. It has aromas of dried fig, raisin, date, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, walnut, caramel, marmalade, coffee and dried apricot. In the mouth it has flavors of nuts, grape sweet spoon, honey, orange, sweet lemon, dried fig and mocha. It has a terrific balance between sweet flavors and explosive acidity with a long aftertaste. You could pair it with chocolate desserts, pan sweets (baklava), crème brûlée but also with savory foods such as Roquefort-type cheeses, aged graviera cheese , savory tarts or even prosciutto with dried figs. It is recommended to enjoy it at 7-9°C.

Karamolegos family started their winemaking course in 1952, in Santorini. The art and passion for wine were inherited by Artemis Karamolegos, the grandson of the family, who continued to produce wine in a traditional way in a small winery in the village of Exo Gonia. For Vinsanto, the grapes come from selected vineyards in Pyrgos, Megalochori, Exo Gonia and Akrotiri. The grapes stay for 9-14 days under the hot sun of Santorini to dehydrate and concentrate the sugars, the acidity and the flavors. Then, the precious juice is transferred to stainless steel tanks, where it ferments. The wine is then transferred to old French oak barrels of 225 and 500 liters and matures for at least 90 months.
