Description

In the glass, we have a wine with a golden, amber color. Aromas of honey, dried apricots, quince, orange peel, spices, and botrytis. On the palate, it is rich and velvety, with intense yet balanced sweetness, acidity, and complexity, leaving a very long and complex aftertaste. It can age for 20+ years in good conditions, developing even more complex aromas and flavors. It is excellent as an aperitif but also pairs beautifully with foie gras, blue cheeses, aged cheeses, fruit tarts, and nut cakes.

Tokaj-Hetszolo was founded in 1502 and is one of the oldest and most historic estates in Hungary. The name “Hetszolo” means “Seven Vineyards,” referring to the seven historic plots of land that were joined together in 1502 to create the current estate. It has 55 hectares (ha) of Premier Cru vineyards, which consist mainly of the Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Sárgamuskotály, and have been certified organic since 2011. Its cellars are carved into volcanic rock, naturally cool and humid, ideal for aging Tokaji wines. In Tokaj Aszú 1er Cru 2013, the number “5 Puttonyos” means that 5 containers (Puttony) of Aszú grapes were added to a 136-liter barrel of base wine. This indicates the level of sweetness in the wine and how rich it is.
