Vinsanto First Release has an amber color with copper hues. It has intense, gentle, refined and complex aromas of chocolate, roasted coffee beans, honey, nuts and dried fruits. In the mouth it is oily, full, with perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, in complete harmony and with an elegant, long aftertaste. Argyros estate was founded in 1903 in Episkopi Santorini. It is the largest privately owned vineyard in Santorini and current holdings exceed 120 hectares, a huge investment of four generations. They work almost exclusively with old vines because only these vineyards can provide the depth, definition and concentration needed to produce the desired style of wine. The vines are farmed organically, without using pesticides. Each vineyard work is done manually, apart from ploughing, carried out by mules. The non-irrigated vineyards are over a century old and are from top areas of the island, mainly Messaria, Karterado, Pyrgos, Megalochori and Akrotiri. Their philosophy is to craft boutique wines based only on the indigenous varieties of Santorini, such as Assyrtiko, Aidani & Mavrotragano. Vinsanto First Release is the newest Vinsanto of the Argyros estate. The grapes are picked at deep ripeness, almost a month after the main picking date, giving incredibly low yields. Then the grapes are sun-dried for ten days, natural fermentation and three years of aging takes place in old concrete vats, with an additional four-year aging in old wooden vats.
