Tannat Single Block ”Vrachos”, Alpha Estate 750ml

A dry red wine from the Tannat variety, with a bright, deep purple colour and violet hues. It has intense and complex aromas, dominated by spices and dried red fruits mixed with leather notes. On the palate we have a wine with excellent structure, ripe tannins and a long finish, with subtle aromas of vanilla and wood. It can be aged up to about ten years and can be paired with grilled meat, meat cooked with a rich sauce, game, and white fatty aged cheeses.

Alpha estate was founded in 1997 by Makis Mavridis and Angelos Iatridis in Amynteo, Florina. Its area reaches 1200 acres of privately owned vineyard. The location of the winery is by no means accidental. It is located very close to its vineyards, so that the transport of grapes during the harvest is immediate. It is destemmed with light crushing. It follows cold soak– skin contact under controlled conditions, alcoholic fermentation by indigenous flora isolated from the specific block, at gradually increasing temperatures with “pigeage”, maintenance of wine “sur lie” for 12 months with regular stirring. It remains for 18 months in new French oak casks and 18 months in bottle before release. No treatment or filtration before bottling.
