Mandilari has a deep red colour. The nose has aromas of cherries and ripe black fruits that are balanced by the sweetness of the barrel and earthy notes. Rich and well-structured on the palate, full of crisp tannins and a sense of saltiness on the finish. It has a long ageing potential that can exceed ten years.

Lyrarakis Winery was founded by brothers Manolis and Sotiris on the island of Crete in 1966. Today they have been taken over by second generation winemakers, supported by an extended family of skilled professionals. From the beginning, they have been dedicated to reviving rare Cretan grape varieties, exploring and capturing the unique terroir, with the aim of producing wines with a distinctive character. “Plakoura” vineyard is situated on a premier cru slope with sandy and stony soil at 500m altitude. Head-trained pruning, combined with north-east exposure and ample sunshine, ensures grapes reach optimal ripeness at harvest.
