Cottà Barbaresco has a bright red colour. The nose is dominated by floral aromas, such as rose, followed by lavender, liquorice and light tobacco notes. At the same time, aromas of wild red fruits, nuts and spices emerge. It is very friendly on the palate, but also complex, with persistent flavours, vivid acidity and well balanced tannins.

The Sottimano family’s story begins with a passion for terroir-driven Barbaresco and the philosophy that great wines are born in the vineyard. Respect for the balance of nature is the key to fully interpreting the tradition and terroir. They have been producing wine in the Barbaresco production zone since the 1970s. The Cottà vineyard is located between the Neive and Barbaresco zones. A Nebbiolo from 40 to 60 year old vines planted on limestone soil. After a meticulous selection of the grapes, a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation follows. The skins are extracted and the wine is transferred to wooden barrels where the natural malolactic fermentation is completed and the wine is left for 24 months. In order to reach its full expressive potential, it is matured in bottle for about another year.
