Marko Terlegiz, Oxer Wines 750ml

Marko Terlegiz is a dry white wine made from the Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia (Petit Courbu), Hondarribi Zuri (Gros Courbu), and Izkiriota Txikia (Petit Manseng) varieties. In the glass, it is full of aromas of dried flowers, citrus fruits, herbs, brine, and stone. It is dynamic, with excellent acidity and rich texture, depth, and balance. It finishes with a long aftertaste and can be enjoyed with oily fish, seafood, and fresh goat’s cheese.

Oxer is a visionary winemaker who decided in 2005 to relocate and produce wines in the unique terroir of the La Rioja Alavesa region. All the meticulous work in the vineyard and winery results in exceptionally fresh and elegant wines. Old vines, only natural acidity with early harvesting, short maceration, spontaneous fermentation, and aging in different containers, such as stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs, amphorae and oak barrels of various sizes, are the characteristics that Oxer seeks in all of its wines. Marko Terlegiz is produced from old vines around the village of Kortezubi, on clayey, limestone soils with schist, a terroir that gives an intense sense of minerality and structure. The whole grapes ferment naturally, with minimal intervention. It matures for at least 6 months in large foudres/barrels and in contact with the lees (sur lie). The word “Terlegiz” in Basque means “refuge for bees” and corresponds to the name of the neighborhood where Oxer’s father was born, and where the vineyards are located. The name of the wine reflects respect for nature, tradition, and family history.
