Santa Margherita in Italy, is blending Glera, Chardonnay and Malbec grape varieties in order to share with us Santa Margherita rose sparkling wine.Over 80 years ago, Count Gaetano Marzotto led the revitalization of an abandoned portion of the Venetian countryside. Marzotto gave the name of his wife Margherita, and the first piece in the mosaic of Santa Margherita was set. At Santa Margherita, they are passionate about wine and they represent the best of tradition, innovation, a passion for authentic and enjoyable wines, and respect for the people and the lands that produces them. They are committed to preserve the environment and they are constantly reinvesting in new resources and technologies that help to deliver the highest quality, vegan, and sustainable products. In Santa Margherita, they are guided by the essential belief in the “Zero Kilometer” philosophy, so their grapes are grown in estate vineyards immediately surrounding our winery, strategically located just for that purpose. The grapes for Santa Margherita rose sparkling wine selected in Hilly area in the province of Treviso and Eastern area in the province of Venice. The blending of a fine rosé wine is a delicate art for Santa Margherita. They start with a white wine made from the Glera grapes used to produce Prosecco, then add Chardonnay and a small amount of Malbec to add richness and color. This blend undergoes a month-long second fermentation followed by 6 months of maturation in pressurized tanks. What resulted was a dry sparkling rosé wine and only then is ready for us to enjoy it. This pale pink sparkling wine brings a full bouquet of pleasing floral aromas with hints of red berry, artfully crafted with a blend of white wine made from Chardonnay and Glera grapes and a red varietal, Malbec. Its flavor is delicate, but vibrant and well rounded, remaining on the palate. A tasty, aromatic aperitif, and an exciting companion for savory Italian appetizers, complex seafood dishes, and spicy, exotic Asian cuisines.
