Oxer is a visionary winemaker, who in 2005 decided to move to the unique terroir of La Rioja Alavesa to make wines. All the meticulous work in the vineyard and winery results in exceptionally fresh and elegant wines.
Old vines, only natural acidity with early harvesting, little maceration, spontaneous fermentation and ageing in different containers, such as stainless steel tanks, cement egg, amphorae, oven and oak barrels of various sizes, are the characteristics Oxer strives for in all his wines. Marko Gure Arbasoak means “our ancestors” in Basque. It represents respect for the ancient Basque culture. The phrase on the label comes from a Basque witch’s spell that says “Baga, Biga, Higa. Ikimilikiliklik, Izan Ontsa!”, which means “One, two, three. Abracadabra, be good!”
