Peplo, Domaine Skouras 750ml

It has a pale pink color like coral with red-gold hues. The nose has red fruits such as cherry, strawberry, notes of lemon, citrus, grapefruit, flowers, honey and a sense of minerality. The mouth is oily, cool with acidity. The aromas of the mouth are the same as those of the nose, notes of lemon and citrus are dominant. Its aftertaste is long and pleasant. You could pair it with cool salads, fish, seafood, pasta with light sauces, and sushi.

In 1986 George Skouras’ vision began and in 2004, in the wine growing area of Nemea, Domaine Skouras was established. For Peplo, they used three varieties and three different vinification methods. Agiorgitiko matures in acacia barrels, Syrah matures on its lees in a stainless tank and Mavrofilero in ceramic amphorae along with its skins for about 4 months. The skin of Mavrofilero is contained in a fabric within the amphora to allow better control during the extraction process. At the end of its maturation the fabric helps them to make the separation of the young wine from the skins. This detail gave the name to this rose wine, Peplo (veil in greek).
