Its colour is bright ruby red with intense red highlights. It has a complex bouquet with characteristic aromas of spices, dried plum and tomato. On the palate it is full-bodied, with balanced acidity and a long-lasting aftertaste. A wine with great ageing potential. Ideally enjoyed at 16-18° C. Pair it with rich grilled meats or cooked in tomato sauce, grilled sausages, meat pies and mature, slightly spicy fatty cheeses.

Alpha Estate is located in the region of Amyndeon, in the northwestern tip of Greece. It was founded in 1997 by the experienced viticulturist Makis Mavridis and the chemist-winemaker Angelos Iatridis, who having been active in many parts of Greece and abroad, chose Amyndeon to create his own wine. For Xinomavro Reserve, grapes from old vines of the 1919 vineyard “Barba Yannis” are used. The wine is left for 24 months on its lees with periodic stirring to gain complexity. Then it rests for 24 months in selected, new, fine-grained, French Allie-Jupilles oak barrels and 12 months in bottle. It is not filtered and undergoes absolutely no treatment before bottling.
