Founded in the 16th century, Château de Sales is located in the northwest of the Pomerol appellation and is its largest vineyard. The majority of the vines are Merlot (73%), which combined with Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (12%), finds its full expression in a terroir of gravel and sand. At Château de Sales, the vines are cultivated in the traditional way: the soil is regularly ploughed, the vineyard practices are environmentally friendly, and the grapes are carefully sorted by hand. The winemaker then tries to express all these special qualities at his disposal so that the wine can continue to be true to itself, tell its own story and give pleasure to wine lovers.
