FrançoisDumas is from the village of Veranne located in the Loire department. Before making wine, François wanted to be a sports teacher. It was in 2004 when he discovered the vine during a season with Cuilleron. Following this, he then decided to do a BPREA (Professional Certificate) in Tournon, then worked for 1 year at Domaine Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin. He then moved to Veranne in 2010, the date of his first vintage. In 2013, he took over a few plots of Saint Joseph and Condrieu (which we loved in tasting!). Lots of plantations, resumption of fallow land, and a very interesting approach to his work with red and white grape varieties. Today, François Dumas works on 4 hectares of vines, organically grown since the beginning! These cuvées are very slightly sulphited before bottling, which results in a total SO2 around 15/25 mg/L for the reds, and 25/35 mg/L for the whites. The wines of François redefine another approach to the wines of the Northern Rhône, worn on relatively long aging without new oak and on tension. Sincere and fair wines, just like the winemaker!
