Strofilia is one of the most historic wineries in Greece. Its journey begins in 1980 with the two friends, Yiannis Maltezos and Achilleas Lampsidis, taking over the family estate of Yiannis that had been left fallow since its destruction due to phylloxera in 1956. After 2 years, they made their first wines at the winepress of Maltezos family. They gave the name “Strofilia” to their wines from the traditional hand-operated wine press that existed there. The “Rare Earths” is the premium series of the winery and includes high quality wines in limited bottles. For the Black Cone, the grapes are collected from Asprokampos on the plateau of Stymphalia. No sulfur is used, so they can perform a partial malolactic fermentation before making the alcoholic fermentation. This red wine is aged in first and second-use French oak barrels.
