Description

Les Cailloutis is a red dry wine, with a deep red color. It has passed through a barrel where 20% is new French oak and has aged for about 18 months. The aromas of the nose are characterized by red fruits such as cherries and strawberries, pomegranate, blueberries, caramel notes and elderflower, giving it a light aroma. In the mouth we distinguish a creamy character and a freshness due to its intense acidity. Its tannins are elegant and perfectly integrated. Its aftertaste is characterized by fruit aromas. It is recommended to decant it at least half an hour before serving, in order to develop its aromas and flavors and to highlight its complex character. You could pair it with beef, game and poultry.

The Domaine des Landions is made up of 25 hectares, for four generations the family has cultivated grapes in the canton of Neuchate in Switzerland. Everything began with Paul Meier, who, in 1924, acquired one hectare of vineyard for the love of good wine. For several years, he harvested the grapes and delivered them to the Meier-Charles Winery at La Coudre, later bought by Chatenay in the 1980s. Eric, Paul’s son, continued to develop the Domaine by planting two hectares in Bole at the beginning of the 1980s. The entire harvest is sold to the Cave des Coteaux where Eric holds the presidency. In 1990, his son, Denis, took over the family firm and developed the Domaine further by planting 4 hectares himself at the Plan Jacot (Bevaix). Following in his father’s footsteps, he continued to produce and sell grapes to the Cave Chatenay Bouvier, but with the ambition to, one day, create his own wine. In 2010, the first “100% Meier” Pinot Noir from Vaumarcus was born. The production is limited to 600 non-commercialised bottles. The symbol of the Domaine, is in tribute to the great historical Celtic past of Neuchatel and to their love for great wine. For the Celts, the deer represented the growth cycle as the animal lost its antlers in winter and then regrew them in spring, following an annual cycle.
