Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Le Vieux Donjon 750ml

Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a red wine coupage of the Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache and Cinsault varieties, produced by the Le Vieux Donjon winery, in the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the Rhone Valley, France. It appears to have medium ruby/purple color. Ripe cherries and raspberries are dusted with clove and star anise, then joined by hints of leather and cocoa on the long, intense finish.

The Domaine was founded by Marcel Michel, who made the first bottling in 1966. Since 2013 Claire Fabre, along with her brother François Michel and their mother Marie Michel, have been managing the property. The estate covers 15 hectares in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. They make only one cuvée of red and white wine using traditional winemaking methods. The estate cellar is located next to the route from Chateauneuf du Pape to Courthezon To make Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge, most of the bunches are destemmed, with the exception of the Mourvedre. The resulting wine remains for 18 months, in oak (80%) and the rest in cement tanks.
