La Grande Dame is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, bringing the Veuve Clicquot style to its quintessence, balancing strength and elegance. A white brut champagne with bright color and golden glints. The nose at start reveals a strong and delicate aroma, after a while the wine has notes of dried fruits such as figs, apricots, ripe green fruits like pears and toasted notes of hazelnut. In the mouth we have intense flavor and silky texture on young fruits, supported by citrus and notes of red fruits like cherry. Pinot Noir gives freshness and minerality. These characteristics create an elegant balance of freshness and structure. La Grande Dame is a tribute to the inspiring Madame Clicquot. A white brut champagne from Reims in France which you can drink now or aged for another 15 years. You can pair La Grande Dame with oysters, fish tartar, scallops, fish or chicken.

The foundation of the Clicquot House was in 1772. After François Clicquot died, in an era when women were excluded from the business world, Madame Clicquot took over the reins. She expanded her business to all over the world. She created the first vintage champagne and invented the “table de remuage’’ to clarify champagne, and innovated the very first blend of rosé champagne. In 1877 we had the entry of the Yellow Label Trademark. Madame Clicquot knew she needed the best grapes to produce the best champagne. Thanks to her extraordinary intuition, she identified a few parcels which turned out to be some of the best in the region. Then she acquired prestigious parcels like Verzenay, Verzy and Bouzy, now all classified as Grand Cru, and used in the blend of La Grande Dame. Even then, her peers recognized her formidable contributions, and referred to her as the “Grande Dame of Champagne’’. Proud of this heritage, the House follows the same motto “Only one quality, the finest”.
